Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our blog!  We are Mike and Megan, hopeful homesteaders, followers of Jesus, lovers of freedom and liberty, and parents to four amazing children, ages 12, 10, and twin 3 year olds.  Mike is an active duty soldier, and Megan homeschools the kids and runs a sewing business from home, Wylie Clothworks.  Life is busy and money is tight, so we are always looking for creative ways to stretch our home budget and resources.  We also believe that NOW is the time to prepare for life in our uncertain future.

Topics we plan to cover include:

  • Food--growing it, raising it, hunting it, preparing it, storing it, and cooking it!
  • Home skills--sewing, crafting, organizing, and ways to create sustainability in your home and stretch your budget!
  • Home Security--defensive (ways to avoid problems in the first place--the army calls this "situational awareness") and offensive (firearms, self defense, and other means of protecting yourself and your family).
  • Money--who doesn't love to learn ways to save it and put it to better use?!
  • Family and Parenting--we are definitely no experts, but we hope to share what we are learning along the way

With humor and practicality, our hope is to chronical our winding path of learning to be better parents, citizens, friends, and stewards of what we have been entrusted with.  Hopefully, it will be a blessing to you, too!
